I was referring to a certain "aged programmer", who went full retard a couple years ago, and turned nasty and flat out hostile to everyone associated with Minetest development, and began making all kinds of insane claims, harassing people, lying, and engaging in illegal actions, trying to discredit everyone associated with Minetest that he can. I'm one of those he has targeted. Hell, the man even aimed his vitriol at my late husband, so I'm more than a little biased. He currently does the same to Freenode IRC staff as well, and has also attacked the PaleMoon browser project in the past.

He maintains a certain ".org" website, and has been trying to convince the more naive users that his is the official Minetest, rather than minetest.net.

I've already removed what offending links I can find.

Hi folks,
Some of you already know that I am Malaclypse. Sorry I bugged out on everybody. I've had some things going on in my personal life, along with being tired of admin-ing a public server. If the files are still on V's server, I could possibly download the server locally and attempt to extract specific builds as .mts files and make them available. No promises as work has me quite busy over the next couple of weeks.
Players that can give me some clues on where to find the specific builds can post here and I will try to recover them when I have time.

To Vanessa and CWz, sorry to have left like I did. I've been out of touch and didn't realize how bad the situation had become. I do not plan on hosting or administrating any more public servers, I should have known better than to take on Bananaland, as hosting and running servers is what drove me away before.

The "account holder" refers to the person who owns and controls the Bananaland files hosted on my machine. He's on the forum, so he can speak up if he wants (I have pinged him).

Sorry, the backup will not be made available to the public, and as far as I know, there's no reasonable way to run a Minetest server in a read-only state. We already have bad actors out there who will just download the map files, or capture them in-client from a running server. Bringing it back online would just encourage someone to do that and then turn around and try to *host* the captured data as a new server.

It's not that the server owner is uninterested, it's that Bananaland has turned into a unfixable mess of a broken world, broken mods, and bad players. Sorry guys.

Top of the morning to you ol' chaps, i have some good news for all, Bananaland is back, and now owned fully by VanessaE, so you know it's in good hands. No more Vorttalin or Malaclypes though, so... r.i.p. them...

BananaLand can be found at the same address and port, so come on down to VanessaE's BananaLand Server and have a spiffing good time, Cheerio!!

In addition, all available mod updates have been applied, and the server is running Minetest 5.0.1 with suitably up-to-date minetest_game. There may be some stability issues over the next few days, in case of bugs caused by these updates or one of us messing around with configs and what now, but we'll do our best to keep things running smoothly.
