What about to add Game Background Music mod? Players can build and inspire with listening of nice music on your servers.

Definitely not. If the player wants music while they play, they can just fire up their favorite MP3 player.

Vanessa, i just noticed all your servers use 0.4.17-dev, but could you use 0.4.17.1 or 5.0.0-dev?

My servers use compiled-from-git code, not 0.4.17 release, and I have no plans to update (definitely not to 5.x, anytime soon).

The creative server is even less dependant on technic. It'd be great to have a replacement mod that adds the nodes but doesn't really run anything - at least not a long time after a player has last clicked.

Hey VanessaE, how can we get an admin to fix some minor griefing in our house in creative-building server? Another player added a bunch of locked doors in our house, which we can't open or remove. Is there an IRC channel where admins can be reached?

You can go to Freenode channel #ve-minetest-servers, but since that's where the servers are connected, you'd be just as likely to find an admin by going on IRC as you would just asking through the server chat (not that there are many admins around anymore... people drift away, etc.).

Where is the house that needs fixed?

Just point your Minetest client at daconcepts.com port 30000 and put in your desired user name and a password that you can remember (or record somewhere).

I know that you only host Banana Land Server.
But can anything like this be done for it? Lag has become a pain [BEEP!], if you get what I mean.

Well, system-wise things are already okay on the server machine, and since I take a hands-off approach for what I host, I can't really do anything.

What's the keyword?

The keyword is set randomly each time the rules screen is shown. It is hidden from everyone but the player looking at the rules, so not even I could tell you what it is at any given moment.

This is done to prevent anyone from telling anyone else they keyword, because that would let players just skip past the rules screen without at least skimming it over.

I need to let folks playing on my servers know that I'm in distress.

For those who have not heard yet, I have been told I have to move out, and find a new home. It's not from anything I did or didn't do, fortunately. The majority-owner wants to sell (I think because the house is in need of refurbishing and modernization), and the buyer wants the place all for himself, no renting to anyone, so both I and my upstairs neighbors are getting the boot. The landlord says he has no choice, and is as upset over it as I am. He told me that the majority-owner is giving everyone "two months" to clear out. There's no exact date, but I figure he means the beginning of June as the deadline.

Everyone who's ever had to move to a new home and manage the costs knows how expensive the process can be, between up-front rent cost, deposits, moving company, and related things. I'm disabled, and therefore on a fixed, limited income, so I can't possibly afford it all by myself (I need HUD just to get by). I estimate a total cost of around $1500.

It's been up for a little over a week, and while I have received some donations, I have not yet reached my goal. I realize that a fair number of my players are just kids and can't help, but this message isn't aimed at them. If anyone here can donate, I'd sure appreciate it! Pry open those wallets, folks!

Whatever I have left over after the move will just become part of my "general fund", to be used for routine stuff. Who knows, maybe someone here will drop me a few thousand so I can buy a whole new wardrobe after the move. :-)

Beyond all that, the server machine has a monthly cost. I've cut that cost to the minimum, but donation-wise, every little bit helps.

I appreciate kind words, "thoughts and prayers" and the like, but words alone don't put food on the table, or money in the landlord's and utility company's hands. I only say this because I've already had such responses on other venues where I'm sharing this story, from folks whom I know could chip in a few bucks.
