Used several times. Works well, takes at least 3 blocks space (1 piston, 1 cable, 1 extra space for other cable pos).

This is what I currently do. But a Mesecons controlled switch just "feels better" (and takes less space for wiring and functionality.).

I don't have the wind generator available. Am I missing something?

Go to your world folder, add a technic.conf text file and write into it enable_wind_mill = true.

Where can I find zinc, when I added the technic mod to my existing world? Must I dig in a place I never entered before, like in the farming redo mod?

Yes. any mod that add worldgen will only place it in newly generated areas.

Is there a way to limit what shows up in Unified Inventory, or just install the Chests. I have my son playing on my server and he creates everything he can.

I also found granite and even some mithril. But after 5 lava places still no sulfur.

You could add the not_in_creative_inventory group to all the nodes you don't want to show up, but I don't know of any feature being built-in.
