Claim Google's knowledge panel

If you do a Google search for Minetest a "knowledge panel" will appear on the side of the search results.

This can be 'claimed' but I think to verify some code needs to be temporarily added to Minetest.net. Could whoever runs the .net site do that so we don't get a malicious actor claiming it and linking people to spyware.

Nathan brings a good point, and maybe should be brought to rubenwardys' attention through PM. The CDB should also feature prominently on that panel.

If it is true that something needs to be put on the minetest.net site in order to verify this, then someone can't (in theory) maliciously claim it (unless they also have control of the minetest.net site, in which we have bigger problems to deal with). However I don't know what the verification process actually is. As far as I know that information card isn't specifically linked to the minetest.net website, just Minetest in general.

Well I think anybody with a Minetest. anything site could claim it, and there are a lot of .'s you can get, so it wouldn't be too hard for anybody to claim it, if infact that is how it works.

I just tested it, that is not so easy to full fill all claims they wanna see ! I think would take more than an hour for me ...

I apologies to have tested it even,
but today after VanessaE warning to me with the other links even on MY own webpage I will not do anymore, and hope that your fast enough to take it before another takes it, and then your helpless. And then also I cant help you, as I am not minetest ... or is this trademark even not existing.

Don't you need a verified google account to claim a knowledge panel?
You need to prove you own the entity, and that means what for minetest?

I don't like google myself but we can at least prevent idiots from exploiting googles failures to claim representation.

Having an account is not the case here (which is super easy to get and have it fully verified). This is not pro/contra Google. It's about malicious people can easily claim this panel.
