How to change language?

I have just downloaded minetest but it is in my OS local language. How can I change it to english?

Welcome to the forums!

1) Select the tab "Settings" in the main menu
2) Press "Advanced Settings"
3) Type "language" in the search box and hit enter
4) Open the tree "Client & Server" and edit "Language" (both translated)
5) Use the dropdown menu and select "en"
6) Save and restart Minetest

If that does not work, find a directory called "locale" inside your Minetest installation and delete your translation files. That will result in an English interface as well.

Addition to that: If you’re on Linux and if you didn’t compile Minetest by yourself there is a very high possibility that none of this works because Minetest checks for the translations in a non-default location when not compiled with the correct path set.

The easiest solution is to link the wrong path to the correct path ln -s /usr/share/locale /usr/share/minetest.

Where they are defined ?

And how to get other languages in ?

Hi all,

I'm trying to change language on Minetest 5 for Android but, any language I choose on client side (procedure as described in post #2 in this topic), language remains English in game.

Is there any bug with Android release ? (No problem with linux client).

On Android translations do not work. Neither for mods using the built-in translation functionality nor for the client.

I tried the Portuguese-br version but only the setting was modified, the gameplay isn't.

the game itself seam to be translated from here,
while the game-play (mean the mods, using of Items) is a problem of the in-bounded mods, and if they have been translated also ... this is in-depended from the game itself, but I also found no "base" where this might be handled, as I am working on the translation to Thai - only on the game itself.

I checked it, Portuguese-Br is 100% translated. I was testing version 5.0.0 without mods. I do not know if it is an OS problem.
