Upgrading from 4.9 to 5.0 Ubuntu 18.04

Upgrading from 4.9 to 5.0 Ubuntu 18.04

Postby JCB » Thu Mar 21, 2019 8:19 pm

Howdy,

Running Ubuntu 18.04 desktop and have minetest 4.9 installed. I had added in the PPAs found in the download page, and upon sudo apt upgrade, I get an error of trying to overwrite '/usr/share/doc/mintest/lua_api.txt.gx.'

I did a purge and auto remove of minetest, as well as removed the folders that were for mintest in the /usr/share/doc folder; however I still get the same error that it cant overwrite this file... but the file is no longer there.

I figure that there must be something else that is not stated in the error that I am missing.

Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Thank you,
JC

That was the first thing I did after the first fail, was purge and remove the folder for minetest there... One would think that if the folder/file was not there, no error. But still triggers an error. Hence the reason that I was thinking that there maybe something else. Bug?

Thank you for your quick reply

We run 18.04 also on Xanadu and to upgrade we downloaded the respective .deb file from minetest.net/downloads and did this:

1. sudo apt-get remove minetest minetest-data
2. double-clicked on the .deb file and installed... done
